Villains #1 (Viper Comics)
This book was highlighted as a Wizard Magazine’s Secret Stash selection a couple of months ago and it caught my eye. The artwork reminded me of Mike Avon Oeming so that initial drew me to, then I read a little about the story I said I would give it a try. At first I went in thinking this would be kind of like the Wanted series done by Mark Millar, but it is has a slant to the concept. Just think of Villains as a story of a man that has had the worst day of his life and he has to make choices on how he wants to live his life and what are the consequences from that choice. That is the story we will follow in this story. It is more introspective than what Wanted was in the aspect of character development that is making this series a must read for me. The writer Adam Cogan has two stories going in this book it is interesting how different his approach with each story. Ryan Cody artwork is solid not exactly top notch but the story telling is pretty good and like I mentioned earlier very similar to the style of Mike Avon Oeming of Powers fame. Overall this book is rock solid and I can’t wait to finish reading the mini-series, definitely give this book a try I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
