Star Wars: Legacy #4 (Dark Horse Comics)

  • Writer: John Ostrander
  • Artist: Travel Foreman
  • Letterer: Michael David Thomas
  • Colorist: Brad Anderson
  • Cover Artist: Jan Duursema & Brad Anderson

Breakdown

In the midst of a brewing Civil War between the Storm Troopers, we follow a new recruit through his first day in the field which may also be his last.

Story

I can’t speak highly enough on the great job John Ostrander is doing on this title.  It is apparent to me that Ostrander has a definitive vision for the series and I’m on for the long haul at this point.  I have always been a Star Wars fan never a fanatic but this is the story telling the movie prequels needed.  Even though the series is set 107 years in the future it weaves all through out the Star Wars Continuity without hurting or slowing down current story line.

Artwork

The artwork at first glance I didn’t care for, but as I sat down to read the comic the art fit the tone of the story perfectly.  The style is more on than the loose, sketchy side compared to regular series artist Jan Duursema’s solid, smooth style.  Again not bad at all just different from the regular style on the book.

Bottom Line

Considering technically speaking this was a fill-in issue but saying that, it was great stand alone issue!

The first trade will be coming out shortly Star Wars: Legacy Vol. 1: The Broken TP which collects #1-3 and #5-7 of the ongoing.

But my only problem with highly recommending this trade is the fact it doesn’t include #0 and #4 which are solid issues in the series.  Trades should include all the issues in order not just selected ones. This trade should include Issues 0-7 in my opinion for what it is worth.
