We have now come to the end of “The Bottom” story arc on Moon Knight.  Now we can fairly judge the success of this newest relaunch of the Moon Knight character.  After the first six issues I must say I was really disappointed by the series so far.  I have reviewed most of the previous issues of this first arc and was willing to give the creative team a chance as long as it paid off in the end and they dropped the ball.

First problem I have with this title is this is the final part of a slow moving arc and I must say it had to be one of the most anti-climatic endings I have ever seen.  Reading this is was worse than sitting a watching paint dry on a wall, and I’m not lying about that either.  I was hoping after the long build up that it would be some awesome action as a reward for the lengthy setup, but it was none to be found.  It was a couple of scenes/panels this issue where  Moon Knight appeared out of nowhere ala Darkwing Duck with the whole “I’m the terror that flaps in the night” stick.  Not much is redeemable about the writing on the book at this point.

The artwork is as consistent  as ever through out the book even though I think Finch go’s overboard with the ever flowing cape.  But the rest of the art in the book is top notch, Miki inks drives home the dark gritty feel that the book needs even though the story fails the great artwork on this issue and story arc.  Hopefully, Huston will pick up the pace for the next arc coming in hopes to salvage this book, because at this point I can honestly say that I’m not looking forward to any of the further adventures of Moon Knight with Huston at the helm at this point.  This book was on my pull list but now finds itself to the maybe I get in trade someday list and that is a damn shame for such a good character.

Bottom Line:

Don’t buy this book, no matter if you’re a fan or not stay away from this at all cost.  Unless you want some pretty cool artwork.
