Moon Knight #3 (Marvel Comics)
This issue was my favorite of the series so far, though many have complained about the pacing being slow I like it because they are defining a character. I can agree at some points that more story could have been conveyed in the issues leading up to this. But, I must say that I’m trusting in the fact that Charlie Huston will end this arc strong so I’m fine with the pacing problems if it pays off in the end. We finally get Marc out and about looking to make amends with the friends he pushed away after he suffered the injuries showcased in issue two. We are shown Marc Spector’s history leading up to him becoming Moon Knight, more background is given to previous members of supporting cast, and to his nemesis Bushman. The Committee plans are set in motion as they go after people closet to Marc Spector mainly Jean-Paul “Frenchie” Duchamp to draw him out into the open. The issue ends with the reveal of the Taskmaster being the contingency plan for the Committee if Moon Knight doesn’t go along with the program.
I loved all the background information given about Marc’s checkered past. The creative team have pick up the pacing to set up what will be a can’t miss conclusion to “The Bottom” Storyline. This was the issue that could have broken this book if it didn’t deliver on the story but it did in spades. Anyone who has jumped early from this title will be kicking themselves when it ends. The foundation has been set and now it is time for the fun to begin.
