I loved this cartoon, so it was just the pure fan boy in me that had to pick up this book.  I didn’t know what to expect, but I’m glad to say it was a pleasant surprise.  This first issue picks up right where the cartoon series ended and drops you right into the action which is always a good thing.  But, then it pulls back a little and gives you some back story, so if you are not familiar with the cartoon series you can get an understanding of the Gargoyles Universe.  I think this is a book that anyone could pick up and follow the story, but if you are a fan this is a must pick up book.  The greatest thing about the book is that it is being done by the same creators of the cartoon so we won’t be getting so water down version of the property it is being continued how it was meant to be.

The artwork is solid and captures the same feel of the cartoon, but if I must say is that the colors on this book are awesome and really help the artwork stand out on the pages.  It is like frames of the cartoon where just placed on paper.  The creator gives some insight of where he has been and what he and the staff have planned for us in the future and I must say I’m rather looking forward to it.
